Oklahoma Mud School

I am curious to know what anyone thought about the Oklahoma Mud School instructed by George Landry in Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

I have heard that it is a "joke" and a waist of time and money. I understand that majority of people who are now certified fluid engineers or "mud engineers" through this school are not employed as mud engineers. I have also heard that most companies do not recognize the Oklahoma Mud School.

I would appreciate any opinions on this subject.

OMS IS a joke!! G.L. does NOT have the M.E. experience he claims. The students I have spoken with, from his school, says he ONLY cares about the $3000 tuition he makes per student, and, they are NOT finding M.E. positions either.

However, I have heard, that the guy who owned and instucted Seminole Mud School, at Seminole College from 1980-1984 is starting his mud school back up, in a few wks, in Okc. It was an 8 wk course, and his students NOT only went to work as a M.E., but they stayed working.

I regret to say that I posted these two comments on OMS because I had a personal issue with Mr. Landry going back to the time when I taught mud school at Seminole State College. I apologize for my actions. Mr. Landry is a good mud engineer and his students do find jobs. I thought I might tarnish his rep and start up my own school, but my conscious got the best of me so here I am. Sorry Mr. Landry. Live and Learn.

George Landry along with OMS is scam. The school consist of a metal building behind his trailer. He spends barley any time with you and I got nothing out of the class. We had 10 people in our class. None of them have gotten Mud engineering jobs. None. Zip and this was 2 years ago. Also look at the comments about the one that says "I regret to say that I posted these two comments on OMS because I had a personal issue with Mr. Landry.......... Thats George himself typing that imposing as jim hadley. It even says george said...

Take my advise and stay away from this school. If you really want to waste 5,000 dollars you can always send me the money and ill give you my OMS course book and print you out a fake diploma. Thats all your gonna get

George Landry is the biggest fake their is, he is a meth head living in a trailer next to his metal building he claims to be a classroom. He started fights with 2 students while I was there. Not only does he not know anything about running mud but has absolutely no contacts in the oilfield

The tools are all there at the oms for learning how to perform water base fluids checks, evaluations, and recommendations. But the instruction is lacking. The school can be of some help to those who have worked on a rig, but an assertive person can get the same tools online for free, then learn the rest. I went to the school and basically taught myself, as did those around me who had a brain and some experience. The rest were lost. This is the only school I have attended and I am now a seasoned m.e., so it is possible to gain from attendance. Assertion to learn and understand what any mud manuals teach and field experience is what it takes to be good at this job. These mud manuals can be found online from baroid, slb, mi swaco, and others if you search.
My suggestion is that you save your money, get a manual online and learn as much as you can, then go apply and take the pretest with a good company. If the oilfield is booming, this is your best bet. If it's down, don't bother unless you have ample experience.

I know Jim Hadley personally, and I can assure you he is not a fake, or a criminal if you need more info on a True Drilling Fluids Engineer course you can contact me personally at dbgig@hotmail.com, and I would love to speak to potential engineers.

Total Joke. I sued him then the State of Oklahoma took over and my case was dismissed. He had to refund my money. Took over 2 years to get all my money back
